  • EdgeAI-Trust at the SAFEXPLAIN Final Event in Barcelona

The final event “Trustworthy AI in Safety-Critical Systems – Overcoming Adoption Barriers” took place today at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, bringing together leading European projects and experts from across the AI, robotics, rail, aerospace, and automotive sectors. The event served as a dynamic platform to advance the state of trustworthy AI through real-world demonstrations, technical insights, and collaborative discussions.

EdgeAI-Trust Presented by Project Coordinator Mohammed Abuteir

Mohammed Abuteir from TTTech Auto, project coordinator of EdgeAI-Trust, took the stage to showcase the project’s contributions to robust and explainable AI systems, especially in safety-critical domains like automotive and decentralized edge environments. Through discussions and networking, EdgeAI-Trust underlined its commitment to ensuring safe, secure, and compliant AI solutions across Europe’s digital landscape.

ADVANCING TRUST IN HIGH-STAKES AI APPLICATIONS

Through expert panels and thematic deep-dives, the event addressed the technical and regulatory barriers to adopting AI in safety-critical systems. EdgeAI-Trust emphasized its focus on developing a zero-trust edge AI architecture that aligns with European safety standards and supports AI explainability and resilience at the system level.

BSC SPOTLIGHT:
APPLYING SAFETY ARCHITECTURE TO EDGE AI

One of the highlights of the event was a presentation by Francisco J. Cazorla from Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). His talk, titled “Applying reference safety architecture patterns to decentralized edge AI systems in EdgeAI-Trust”, provided deep technical insights into how safety patterns can be integrated into complex, distributed AI systems.

Francisco emphasized the importance of aligning safety architecture design with emerging AI models deployed at the edge — a critical aspect of the EdgeAI-Trust mission. His contribution strengthened the event’s focus on bridging architecture-level safety with trustworthy AI deployment.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE EVENT:

A COLLABORATIVE STEP TOWARD EUROPE’S AI FUTURE

EdgeAI-Trust’s active presence in Barcelona reinforced its role in shaping Europe’s trustworthy AI agenda, helping bridge the gap between technological innovation and regulatory readiness. As we continue toward more intelligent and secure AI systems, events like SAFEXPLAIN amplify the collaborative efforts needed to make that future a reality.
